Brow Lift

Facial expressions are one of the principal ways for human beings to convey emotions and feelings to the outside world.

Regrettably, creases, lines and wrinkles begin to form between the eyes and across the forehead as part of the natural the aging process, distorting our facial appearance and causing us to appear perpetually sad, angry, or tired. This problematic aesthetic issue often occurs in conjunction with the development of hooding (lateral skin folds) in the outer corners of the eyes, between the eyebrow and eyelid, compounding the aging effect.

Brow lifts are surgical procedures that are designed to address and correct the aforementioned visible signs of aging in the forehead and orbital regions of the face. When performed using proper techniques, a brow lift procedure can reduce the visibility of wrinkles and lines on the bridge of the nose between the eyebrows (frown lines) and smooth the appearance of forehead creases, thereby restoring a more youthfully refreshed facial visage. Brow lifts can also resolve issues of upper eyelid hooding by elevating the eyebrows, which serves to create a more alert, well-rested facial appearance.  Brow lift surgery is often performed with ancillary facial rejuvenation procedures (i.e. rhinoplasty, laser skin resurfacing, eyelid surgery, facelift), and can function as a key component of a revitalizing facial transformation.

As with all facial surgeries, brow lifts are complex procedures requiring a significant level of precision and clinical expertise. Your brow lift surgery should only be performed by a skillful, Board Certified plastic surgeon with a keen eye for facial aesthetics and a strong working knowledge of the intricate facial structures, such as our board certified plastic surgeons at Tribeca Medaesthetics, located in beautiful Miami Beach, Florida. After conducting a comprehensive evaluation of your facial anatomy and aesthetic goals, our board certified plastic surgeons at Tribeca Medaesthetics will select the brow lift technique that he feels will best fulfill your surgical objectives:

  • Temporal Brow Lift:  this method involves a series of smaller incisions made in the temple region in order to elevate the forehead. While this technique offers the advantage of concealing most of the incisions within the scalp, the results are not as long-lasting or as comprehensive as coronal lifts because only the outer portion of the brow is lifted.
  • Mid-Forehead Brow Lift: best suited for patients (primarily men) with a receding hairline or deep forehead wrinkles, when performing this technique our board certified plastic surgeons will excise the skin just above the brows and elevate the musculature around the eyes.
  • Coronal Brow Lift: this technique requires an incision along the hairline across the top of the head, followed by an elevation of the entire forehead and a weakening of some of the forehead musculature in order to minimize the appearance of horizontal forehead furrows and lines.
  • Endoscopic Brow Lift: developed as a less invasive alternative to the coronal technique, this procedure is guided by a small camera mounted on the end of an endoscope, which is inserted through tiny incisions made along the hairline. During the endoscopic brow lift procedure, our surgeons will remove the procerus muscles (the muscles between the eyebrows that are responsible for causing frown lines) and the corrugator supercilli muscle in order to raise and reposition the forehead.

For the first 2-4 days after your brow lift procedure you will wear a soft wrap around your head, and you should try to keep your head elevated whenever possible, in order to minimize post-surgical swelling and bruising. Approximately one week after surgery you will have a follow-up visit at the Tribeca Medaesthetics office, at which time our board certified plastic surgeons will remove your surgical staples or sutures. Brow lift patients are typically able to slowly resume their normal physical activities 2-3 weeks after their surgery; however, this time frame varies from patient to patient, and is dependent upon your body’s unique healing capacity and the technique utilized during your brow lift. Coronal brow lifts often necessitate longer recovery periods than the endoscopic, temporal, and mid-brow methods, and can cause temporary post-surgical itching or numbness.

At Tribeca Medaesthetics, we make it a priority to keep abreast of the latest technological advances in the field of cosmetic facial surgery, and our skillful surgeons employ these cutting edge techniques to ensure safe procedures and beautifully natural-looking results.  Our surgeons believe that having well-informed patients is vital to the success of every brow lift procedure, and will take the time to thoroughly and patiently review all of your brow lift options and procedural details.
