The aesthetic goal of attaining a lean, sculpted physique is not reserved for members of the female gender, nor is insecurity about the presence of undesirable pockets of fat in the abdomen, arms, back, chest, and waist.
Men can just as easily experience this desire for physical perfection, and are often similarly afflicted with body-related insecurities. Therefore, it should not come as a surprise that, although the majority of patients electing to have body sculpting surgeries (ie. liposuction, liposculpture) are still female, over the past decade the number of male body sculpting surgeries has continued to increase, with 23,000 male liposuction procedures performed in 2012 alone (up 5% from 2011 statistics).
Liposuction (liposculpture, lipoplasty) is a surgical body sculpting technique designed to safely and effectively eliminate persistent fatty deposits that are often the result of genetics (as opposed to insufficient exercise), and have proven resistant to traditional weight loss efforts. Body sculpting procedures can be performed wherever there is surplus fat on the body; however, the most common treatment areas for male patients include the:

Male body sculpting surgery requires a high level of accuracy and expertise, and involves taking into consideration a number of factors unique to the male gender. This type of surgery should only be performed by a qualified, Board Certified plastic surgeon with experience performing procedures within this niche surgical genre, such as our board certified plastic surgeons at Tribeca Medaesthetics, located in beautiful Miami Beach, Florida. At Tribeca Medaesthetics, we are pleased to offer our male patients a number of surgical body sculpting options, including: traditional liposuction (manual or power-assisted), Vaser Hi Def Liposuction, and the minimally invasive option of Lipotherme laser-assisted lipolysis. During your initial consultation, our surgeons will review all of your male body sculpting options in order to ensure that your aesthetic enhancement goals are safely and effectively realized. The duration of your male body sculpting surgery and the type of anesthesia used (general, local, or IV sedation) will depend upon the type of procedure you elect to undergo, the extensiveness of the procedure, and whether or not you are having other surgeries performed at the same time.
Should you decide to have traditional liposculpture surgery, our board certified plastic surgeons at Tribeca Medaesthetics will first infuse the designated treatment area with a tumescent solution comprised of saline, anesthetic, and epinephrine, which minimizes bruising, bleeding, and discomfort and allows for more precise fat removal. He will then insert a cannula (thin, hollow tube) through a series of very small incisions and loosen the excess fat before using a syringe or surgical vacuum attached to the cannula to suction the dislodged fat out of your body. In some cases, our surgeons may elect to perform power-assisted liposuction, which uses the same tumescent technique but employs the use of a cannula with a tip that vibrates at a high rate of speed, gently breaking up the fat cells so that they may be suctioned away with little disruption to the surrounding tissue.
Following your male liposuction surgery, our board certified plastic surgeons at Tribeca Medaesthetics will firmly wrap the treated area to reduce bruising and swelling, and will provide you with a compression garment to wear for 3-4 weeks. The first 7-10 days after your surgery it is normal to experience some degree of bruising, swelling, and fluid drainage, and you will be given antibiotics and pain medication to lessen your discomfort and prevent infection during this time. Most patients return to work within a few days after surgery, and slowly resume all of their normal activities when it is comfortable to do so. Your male liposculpture results will become apparent after the swelling and post-surgical fluid retention subsides. In order to preserve the appearance of your newly enhanced physique, you will be advised to maintain a healthy lifestyle and to avoid gaining a significant amount of weight.
